World's Best Quartz Watch

Since folks come to this newsgroup and ask the "what is the best watch
question?", I will answer that question regarding quartz watches. The
absolute best quartz watch ever made is the Brietling Aerospace SuperQuartz
for the following reasons:

1. It is lightweight titanium.
2. It is low profile. (height)
3. Because it is made out of titanium, it is hypoallergenic
4. The dial and hands are extremely readable.
5. The Professional Bracelet is good looking and well designed.
6. It has many easy to use digital functions.
7. It is a timeless design that has been around for at least 15 years. It
has not changed much in those 15 years and therefore that means that they
got it right the first time.
8. It has a sapphire crystal. No serious watch should be without one.
9. It is accurate to about 2 seconds per year. You don't need a
radio-controlled watch that you set on a window ledge every night to pick up
a hit-and-miss signal.
10. It is slightly expensive, but worth every Penny!
11. You feel like you got your money's worth every time you look at it or
invoke the easy-to-use functions.
12. If cannot see, it can tell you the time via the minute repeater.
13. It is very recognizable and has great snob appeal. It is a lot cooler
than your coworker's Casio or Citizen.
14. Because I said so, it is true. It is as simple as that. :-)

1. It is lightweight titanium.
Ie: A hard knock can crack or damage the case beyond any repair with
replacement costing half a damn watch's worth. Ti cases are ok, but
once damaged or start to wear at the edges, they look bloody awful.

2. It is low profile. (height)
3. Because it is made out of titanium, it is hypoallergenic
4. The dial and hands are extremely readable.
So is a couple of my brail watches, not to mention the pocket watch.

Where did you get that figure? Is it an official statement by Breitling?

This is the accuracy of my Aerospace. It is temperature compensated and
therefore very accurate. Other folks in the Breitling forums have reported
the same level of accuracy.

Since most of us use our watches to for daily and weekly activities and
our watches display time only in whole seconds then how significant is
an annual error rate of 20 seconds or less. Is it possible to notice
that the Seiko Perpetual has varied by 00.38 of a second while the
Breitling has varied by 00.04 second in a week.

Of the many very accurate quartz watch movements on the market, only
the common Timex/Casio/Armitron movement will vary 15 seconds per
month or 3 seconds per week. Everyone else, from the $200.00 Seiko
Perpetual Calendar as well as it's pricier brothers will vary a second
or less per month or some number well under a second per week.

Or said another way if you set all of the watches with 20 seconds or
less annual error on the first of the month and let them run for 30
days they would all display time to within 1 second of one another at
the end of that month.

The Skyhawk is easily the most accurate watch I've ever owned. It takes
about eight weeks to gain one second.

I manually set the watch to the time signal from radio station WWV. I
checked the time every month to see how much it drifted.

Not for me. I find Breitling watches flashy and presumptuous. Their
designs scream and yell "look at me because I was expensive". In that
respect they're even worse than Rolex.

Perhaps in the US, in Europe the time signal is very reliable. (Pretty

I think it's grossly overpriced for a quartz watch but YMMV.

And when you toss it from the rooftop of a three-storey building onto
concrete pavement, it will only get a few minor scratches and keep on
working as if nothing had happened to it, right? No? Then you should
consider a Casio G-Shock, solar-powered = no battery changes ever and
radio-controlled = accuracy better than +1 sec / 1 million years.
BTW: The G-Shock only cost a fraction of what you must cough up for a
Breitling.

But it was a nice try anyway. So keep on making us laugh, please.

#15 The Aerospace is nicely balanced. It's seemingly uniform weight never
encourages it to sway to one side or the other of my arm.

Did you not hear the latest Breitling News?

Beritling has dropped John Travolta and hired Mij Adyaw as the new
ambassador for their watches. I used to make and fly some very cool paper
airplanes in the third grade and have a much bigger belly and am therefore
much better looking than John Travolta.
