J.G. Graves Express English Lever Pocke
Watc

Maker: J.G. Graves was a well-known retailer based in Sheffield
England. He sold watches made by various manufacturers, including th
Lancashire Watch Company

Hallmarks

Lion: Indicates sterling silver

Anchor: Represents Birmingham as the assay office

CHE: Likely a maker’s mark, but it could also be a misinterpretatio
of the Chester hallmark

Date Letter ‘Z’: The date letter can be tricky. If it’s in a shield
it could correspond to different years depending on the style of th
letter and the assay office. For Birmingham, ‘Z’ in a shield could b
1823

Serial Number 122: Serial numbers can help identify the productio
period and sometimes the specific batch. You might want to chec
databases like the Pocket Watch Database for more detaile
information

Smaller Pocket Watc

Hallmarks

Lion: Indicates sterling silver

Leopard in Shield: Represents London as the assay office

Date Letter ‘F’: If it’s an old italic ‘F’, it could be from th
1500s, but more likely it’s from a later period. Hallmark guides ca
help pinpoint the exact year

Serial Number 46669: Similar to the first watch, the serial number ca
provide clues about its age and origin. Again, databases like th
Pocket Watch Database can be useful
