Hello, all. I've got a 1970s era Accutron Spaceview wristwatch with the
214 movement in need of service. Part of the blue plastic battery
compartment has disintegrated into a powder that is visible through the
crystal. The rest of the insides look OK.

A Google search reveals several restoration services (e.g.
oldfathertime.com, accutron214.com, mybob.net). If you could share your
experience with any of these repair shops it would be most appreciated.
Thanks for your comment and time. Sincerely,

I have no experience with any of these companies, but I expect none will
repair the watch cheaply. The upside of this is that they will probably
be happy to discuss your issue for free as part of their sales effort.
Try contacting them and share a description of your problem. I would
expect a knowledgeable repair service to be able to discuss the nature
of the problem and how they would go about the repair. They may even be
willing to quote a fixed price. It's not like your watch is the only
one that has suffered from this sort of deterioration. They should have
seen this before.
