I have never seen any comments on this, but the one thing I hated about
wind up watches, was the struggle to grip and turn the winder crown. Am
I the only one who finds this a bit of a battle, or is there some sort
of device which makes it easier to wind them up?

Not sure what you're asking but pennyfarthingtools.co.uk, a specialist
in horology tools, has a set of watch winders for sale.

I have dealt in the past with this chap. He is one of the good guys.

Just an easier way to grip and turn the crown, when winding up a watch.
I have two wind up watches and I find both tricky to grip and winding
them leaves a deep impression in the skin of my fingers.
